Michael Maidens was famed his stunning goal from 40 yards against Huddersfield in 2006. Maidens had been in and out of the side but despite the wonder goal he has failed to break into the first team under either Danny Wilson or his predecessor Martin Scott.

The right winger spent a month on loan at York City in January 2007 but made only 1 start at KitKat Crescent.

Michael Maidens was tragically killed in a road traffic incident on the A174 at around 8pm on Friday 19th October 2007. The club announced that the #25 shirt would be retired as a tribute to the talented youngster. The following day's game against Swansea City was postponed and all youth team fixtures were cancelled.
