Andy Monkhouse initially joined Pools on loan in November 2006 from Swindon Town as manager Danny Wilson restructured the left hand side of the team, Monkhouse made an immediate impact scoring 3 goals in his first 8 appearances and Wilson looked to sign him permanently.

Monkhouse began his career at Rotherham United as a youngster where he played 128 times before joining Swindon Town in July 2006. Monkey transferred permanently in January 2007 and even scored the winning goal against former side Swindon Town when the teams met in February. Monkhouse`s consistent performances meant he was picked in the PFA League Two Team of the Year.

"Monkhouse has given us something we have been missing - a decent left winger. He has pace, a good cross and chips in with a few goals too"
