Ian Moore was brought to HUFC in July 2007 to strengthen an inexperienced front line. Moore has played at a higher level and has been amassed nearly 3 million in transfer fees during his career.

Moore began his career at Tranmere Rovers where he attracted interest from bigger clubs, despite only getting 12 goals in 58 games. Nottingham Forest won the race for his signature and signed him for 1 million in 1997, he failed to make an impact at the City Ground and was sold to Stockport County 1 year later for 800,000.

He spent 2 years at Edgely Park and finished as top scorer with 11 goals, this led to another million pound move, this time to Burnley. Moore became a fans favourite at Turf Moor and scored 37 goals in 192 games for the Clarets before suffering persistent injuries.

Leeds United offered him a chance for first team football and he joined them for 50,000 in January 2005. He failed to hold on to a place in the first team and was released in May 2007 by Dennis Wise.

After struggling with the commute between his home in Warrington and Pools training ground in the North East, Moore was placed on the transfer list and joined his father, Ronnie, at Tranmere Rovers on 31 January 2008.
