Uruguayan Fabian Yantorno joined Pools in August 2010 after a lengthy trial spell at Victoria Park, he'd spent almost a year out of the game after his release from Chester City the previous September.

He began his career at Club Atlético Bella Vista in his home country before a spell in Italy with Serie C, after one season he returned to Uruguay to spend a year with Miramar Misiones.

He moved to Scottish Premier League side Gretna in 2007 where he teamed up with Pools coach Mick Wadsworth for the first time. Gretna finished bottom of the league but Yantorno's impressive performances earned him a move to Hibernian.

He struggled with injury problems and spent much of his time at Easter Road on the sidelines. He was released after making just 7 appearances and only one start.

He was reunited with Mick Wadsworth at Conference side Chester City but he struggled with injuries before leaving the club in September 2009. With injury problems a theme in his career, Pools chose to monitor the player during a trial before sealing a contract on the eve of the 10/11 season.
