Dubliner Alan Power joined Nottingham Forest as a youngster and progressed though the clubs Youth Academy. He made his debut for the Reds in a Johnstone's Paint Trophy game against Peterborough in 2007.

He was called into the Republic of Ireland's U21 squad in October of that year. This was in addition to several caps at youth levels. He spent a month on loan at Conference side Grays Athletic in November 07 and scored once in his 8 game stint.

He was unable to break into Nottingham Forest's first team but played a starring role as captain of the reserve side and, after being released at the end of the 07/08 season, Hartlepool boss Danny Wilson quickly snapped up his man. Power made his debut in Pools Carling Cup win over Scunthorpe in August 2008 but found his first team chances limited due to fierce competition in midfield.

After making just two substitute appearances during the 09/10 season he was released by Chris Turner in May 2010.
