A boot boy Middlesbrough fan in the 1970s, Jeff Winter became one of the first officials when the Premier League was formed and was one of the very first professional referees, Jeff Winter has been at the heart of football as the modern game has evolved.

Jeff retired after taking charge of the 2004 FA Cup Final between Manchester United and Millwall and is now focussing on a career in the media and after dinner speaking circuit.

He was voted the UK's top football after-dinner speaker in 2006 and he published his autobiography called "Who's the B*****d in the Black?" that year. He also presented two hugely popular radio shows on local station TFM until he left the station in May 2008.

Jeff made the move to Darlington based Alpha 103.2 for the 08/09 season before joining Radio Hartlepool in the summer of 2009. He left the station in late 2009 and is now currently a regular contributor to Zoo magazine, Sky Sports News and a number of national newspapers.

Each week on Vital Hartlepool Jeff writes his 'Winter's World' column where he talks about the latest happenings at Victoria Park and everything that's going on in North East football.
