Fifteen Without A Win For Hartlepool

Hartlepool United remain rooted to the bottom of League One after defeat to table-topping Tranmere.

Report

Caretaker boss Micky Barron made four changes for the fixture with promotion chasing Tranmere with Sam Collins, Jordan Richards, Jonathan Franks and James Poole brought into the starting line-up.

However, despite the changes, it did little to end an awful run of results for Pools. It was the visitors who came closest to opening the scoring with a pair of chances in the opening quarter of an hour.

Pools were restricted to few chances until Franks tested Tranmere keeper Owain fon Williams early in the second half and then Simon Walton fired wide minutes later.

The decisive moment came with ten minutes left when Peter Hartley fouled James Wallace in the area, leaving Andy Robinson to blast home the spot kick and give the visitors the lead.

Tranmere wrapped up the win with an injury time second as substitute Cole Stockton pounced to seal a win that sends Ronnie Moore's men top of the table and leave Hartlepool without a win in 15 outings.
