Last Gasp Monkhouse Goal Saves Hartlepool

A 90th minute Andy Monkhouse effort earned Hartlepool a point at home against Shrewsbury.

Report

Neil Austin, Andy Monkhouse and Simon Walton were dropped by Neale Cooper as Shrewsbury arrived at Victoria Park.

It seemed like the changes had paid off when Jonathan Franks opened the scoring after 15 minutes with a drilled effort.

But the lead didn't last and the Shrews were level as a free kick wasn't dealt with by the home defence and Marvin Morgan slotted home.

Morgan grabbed a second goal after the break after a good ball by Mark Weight set him through on goal. Paul Parry could have put the game to bed when his effort hit the post and that would ultimately cost his side the three points.

Brought on in the second half, Andy Monkhouse answered his critics with a 90th minute equaliser to give Pools a share of the points.
