Huddersfield vs. Hartlepool

Galpharm Stadium

21st November 2009

Preview: Hartlepool Hope To Halt Huddersfield

Hartlepool United travel to free scoring Huddersfield tomorrow

Vital Quotes:

Earlier today Chris Turner admitted that despite the fact the Terriers put six past Wycombe in their last outing and also put half a dozen past Dagenham two weeks ago he isn't worried ''As far as we're concerned there is no fear for us - the lads know Huddersfield are a good side but we'll go there to play our game and get a positive result.

''We're on a great run in the league at the moment and we're nicely placed in the table so if we can get a couple of good results before the blank weekend we'll be happy.''

- Chris Turner

Huddersfield star Anthony Pilkington said that his side are just concentrating on the task at hand, rather than looking ahead ''It's great to be a part of things, and when we play like this, we're capable of beating any side in the division, but we have to avoid getting carried away and make sure we take it one match at a time.

''Promotion is very much the aim this time - we talked about it on the first day of pre-season training - and I'm convinced we're good enough to challenge the likes of Leeds and Charlton for one of the two automatic places.

''But nothing has been achieved yet, and having started the season strongly, our form stalled, so it's crucial we learn the lessons from that and ensure the same thing doesn't happen again.''

- Anthony Pilkington (HTAFC)

Huddersfield Team News:

Sidelined with thigh injuries, both Robbie Simpson and Danny Drinkwater will be absent from the Huddersfield squad tomorrow.

However, Town have no other injury problems ahead of the game.

Player to watch: Jordan Rhodes

Jordan Rhodes is Town's top scorer this season with 13 goals and Pools will need to keep an eye on the striker tomorrow.

Hartlepool Team News:

Pools will be without defender Steve Haslam as he undergoes a Hernia operation but Pools have no other injury worries.

Ben Clark and James Brown continue their return from injury, Brown should start with Clark expected to take his place on the bench.

Player to watch: Adam Boyd

Boyd grabbed the winner last week as Pools beat his former club, Leyton Orient and is starting to get back to his best. Another goal tomorrow could spark a run of form for the Hartlepool-born striker.

Match Facts & Stats

Hartlepool have won at Huddersfield only once since 1990, the televised 2-0 win in 2004. Last year Pools claimed a point as Ritchie Jones cancelled out Michael Nelson's earlier own goal.

Match Prediction:

Huddersfield 1-1 Hartlepool

Huddersfield have been scoring goals for fun but I still think we can get something out of the game tomorrow.

It really depends which Pools show up, if it's the same side that slumped to defeats against Kettering and Grimsby then Pools will get turned over but a good performance and points are not out of the question.

Next Fixtures:

Pools welcome Southampton to Victoria Park for the first time on Tuesday while Huddersfield travel to Danny Wilson's Swindon Town.
