After all the trauma endured last season, relegation trips to the High Court, success in our first season in the National League could prove to be involvement in the end of season play-offs.

This article makes for a good read, and whilst hoping Pools management adopt the correct attitude it is to be hoped that supporters similarly show the correct level of respect!

We've only got to finish above Tranmere and we've cracked it, according to some sources.

Not the start to the season I was expecting, I'm away and miss the first five games.

Let's start as we mean to go on, would love to see 12pts on the board on my return.

Same old same old, let's work harder than the opposition for 90 minutes.

Similar to others I think the key player will be Munns. Historically he is the type of player we have never had but the opposition always seemed to have.

Not sure who Harrison's ' eleven in the drawer' are as I ain't seen any pre season stuff.

......................Loach..................
Magnay....Harrison....Laing.......Adams
............................Newton...............
........Donaldson...........Deverdics
........................Munns...................
.......Cassidy..............Amond...........

Seems plausible to me.

Looking forward to the start of the season, tomorrow, hopefully we'll start with a positive result and a good performance.

I have no clue as to how Craig will lineup the team though I suspect the back 5 is nailed on to be Loach, Magnay, Harrison, Laing and Adams. Also expect Newton and Amond to start, but as to the rest or the formation we'll have to wait till kickoff.

Settle for a hard fought 1 nil victory - though a draw won't be a disaster.

On the prospects for the season as a whole, I think Pools are well capable of a top 7 (playoffs) finish, and that overall the top of the table teams will be closer to each other than in previous seasons.

I'd be disappointed if we dont start off with a win but then being disappointed is all part and parcel of being a Poolie.

Yup things are pretty depressing at the moment. I find myself checking out the opposition and wondering how the heck we are going to win a game never mind win the league. I watched the Maidenhead game and was embarrassed. By all accounts we played well against Chester but we still couldn't win. I am coming to the opinion that Craig Harrison is not up to the job. We have played four matches and never looked like winning any of them. The worst thing is all the optimism there was before the season started: it makes the current mess all the harder to take.

It's very early doors yet and we are 10pts behind were I realistically thought we could be at this stage but not time to reach for the anti-depressants, however five games in and we already have a couple of six pointers looming next coming weekend.

We entertain AFC Fylde up here on the Saturday, which looks a toughy as they seem difficult to breakdown drawing four of their first five games and 4pts on the board. A win would see us climb over them. My first game of the season so i'm expecting to see a win.

Then Monday Guiseley away who have drawn two, lost two, won one and have 5pts in the bag. Another toughy but with the confidence boost of beating AFC Fylde in our backyard two days earlier, a further 3pts from them could potentially see us climb over both next weekends opponents.

Looking at where we are currently and where we need to be, I would remove Harrison from that line up and add [a fully fit] Featherstone. wonder how Newton would cope at centre half?

edit: [post Laing hamstring injury] Bates alongside Newton, couldn't be any worse could it???

Manager has enough players at his disposal to put out 2 teams, but I genuinely believe he doesn't know his best players or how best to deploy them.
From what I've seen in the home games so far in this league you play a solid 4 4 2, and bar the final quarter of the game when play is becoming stretched you stick to it.
Line up for next Saturday, assuming Amond has left and Laing crocked

Loach
Magnay, Harrison, Donnelly, Adams
Donaldson, Featherstone, Newton, Deverderics
Cassidy, Franks

Not sure what is going on with Amond but if he is declaring himself unavailable for selection for anything other than health reasons of either him or his immediate family, put him on gardening leave or move him on, the last thing this dressing room needs at this point is a negative influence from a so called 'senior' pro. No one is irreplaceable.

Presuming Amond is unavailable for selection, he'd be on gardening leave for me, and Laing is injured there would have to be three changes......for me Harrison is a major concern in the defence.

Without seeing any of them in a live game, on Saturday I'd go.....

Richardson.....Magnay.....Donnelly.....Adams

We have to stop conceding and start scoring. We seem to have gone from conceding one without reply in our opener to conceding two but getting one ourselves and most recently ending up conceding two without reply. Looking from that perspective we're not learning and in particular switching formations/tactics continually we're learning nothing about ourselves.

I think the same thing as Luke James. Amond is getting bad advice leading to ideas above his station. He's done nothing so far this season (and not a lot last) and is not a great asset to the team. He should be got rid of ASAP. If, as reported, we might get some cash for him so much the better.

He always gets good write ups not just from pro journos but from ordinary fans who post comments on various media.

It would appear, from comments made by Craig Harrison, that Podge has wanted away from the moment relegation was confirmed. This being the case, perhaps, Craig was ill advised in trying to retain him. (Easy to be wise in hindsight)

Would appear that he has gone now, so let's move on and get any of those still at the Club who think they'd be better elsewhere out of the door too.

Not been confirmed yet but the last thing we need is an unsettling influence in a fragile dressing room.
