OK how do we all think it will go? I think it the players will be anxious and will make mistakes that Barnet will take advantage of even though they wont be trying all that hard. Probably a 2-1 defeat.

Similar to Alfalfa, I can't see anything but a defeat! Sadly, irrespective of results elsewhere this still won't resolve Pools' fate and we'll have to endure another week of platitudes from DJ and various players.

As I have mentioned in previous threads my belief is that too many of the players already know they will not be with Pools next season, so they aren't motivated to fight for the clubs survival.

That doesn't make sense OP. If the players believe they will probably not be at Pools next season surely they are more likely to be motivated to impress potential new clubs. If they show they really couldn't care less they are likely to be out of a job.

To be 100% fair, we will always have platitudes because Jones et al cant be truthful and say: "Yes we are going to be relegated. I am a pish poor manager and the payers cant be arsed". Everyone knows what is really going on but it cant be publically admitted so they have to rack their brains thinking of platitudes that have not already been used. As a manager losing week after week it must be quite a challenge to think of a new platitude week on week. Hignett struggled a bit on that score with his excuses getting a bit repetative but Jones is really quite good at it probably because he is more experienced.

At about 5 o'clock today I expect to hear something like "We've still got two games to go so we will be doing everything we can to try and win them. If we can do that, we stillhave a good chance of survival."

Unfortunately it is now out of our hands, we have relinquished control of our destiny to those now above us. Well not us as fans but Jones and his cronies have put a knife through the heart of HUFC and handed it to the football league, we're done now, it's over. No way on God's green earth will we claw back the 2pt deficit and Cheltenham will seal our fate on Saturday.

Every single Hartlepool United fan, wherever they are in the world could see Newport coming at us like a steam train, yet Jones couldn't? Every fan on the terraces at the Vic could see the frailties of this side, its weaknesses and it's few strengths, yet Jones cannot?

Some I talk to believe he is trying to impress upon league 2 players his higher level football principles, i'm not sure about that but if he is he, he has become one of those spoken about by much, much better managers than he. He has become one of those who should know better but don't and ergo make a simple game complicated.

Things will not get better over the last two league games and HUFC love affair with the football league is over and it's an acrimonious split from all quarters of the fan base, there are a few who do not really care, cannot be bothered or just genuinely are out of their depth, unfortunately they are the ones who could have effected change.

I can imagine Newport losing at Carlisle and then on the last day of the season us going into the Donny game knowing we have to win and hope Newport lose at home then Donny putting 6 past us. By then he'll probably have Amond at Centre Half, Deverics at Centre Forward and Thomas at full back. You have to laugh.

You can faintly hope that Donny win next Saturday and Plymouth lose so they already have the title in the bag going into the last game. But at the end of the day we're not going to beat them. Our biggest hope was Newport losing the final three games, because HUFC has a manager who is unable to win football matches and motivate his team.

Very true. In our hearts we know we will lose the last two games so whatever Newport do is of no real relevance. I dunno who first coined the phrase "Its the hope that kills you" but it is very apposite at the moment. There is always a tendency to clutch at straws when facing such a miserable prospect of losing league status.

You have to admire Newport, they fully deserve to survive. Can you imagine Pools losing 6-1 away and then scraping a 1-0 win next game? Hats off to them, they embody everything that is missing from our team at the moment.
