Best away side in the division and we beat them! Hats off to the lads. Just shows what a bit of confidence can do. Well chuffed. Probs have a pint to celebrate. Cant remember last time we won two games on the bounce. Oh aye and we have done a double over Exeter our first of the season. Over the moon me like.

And young Oates rightly got a special mention in dispatches from Jones

Fantastic result and brings us right back into the pack. Shame Orient won but it does look now like Newport are dead and buried - one less relegation spot to worry about.

The truth is that we were pretty poor for the first hour until he put Oates through the middle. I know there's been a lot of debate about him on here but the way he holds off the defender for our second goal is absolutely fantastic. Most players would have gone down and taken the free kick but he pushed on and we got the goal. He was dead on his feet by the last ten minutes, great effort and has to continue playing up top next week.

Him being up front also brought the best out of Amond who also played really well. In those two you've got two players who will run all day and hassle defenders which is exactly what we need in our position.

Goal we conceded was sloppy, Kavanagh didn't look fit (and from what I gather Richardson didn't deserve to be dropped anyway) and he should have just clipped the lad and taken the free kick. You can argue their player should have done that for the goal where Oates broke free, too.

Atmosphere was cracking at the end of the game with all three home stands singing. Just shows what a bit of effort can do to gee up the fans, and how a bit extra support can give our players that extra edge.

I feel like we've got a bit of breathing space for the first time in a good while. Onwards and upwards.

Brilliant turnout by the Exeter fans as well. What a brilliant club they are, I wish them all the best and hope we can follow some of the sterling work they're doing in terms of fan ownership.

Another excellent result and 3 more points in the bag towards safety from relegation. Hopefully these 2 home wins will have boosted confidence within the squad and further points can be added from the coming away fixtures.

There is still, almost, a quarter of the season left so still a lot of games to be played. Hence it is too early to be complacent.

Thought Dave Jones' post match interview on PoolsWorld was balanced and honest. Interestingly he seemed to suggest he is planning for next season with Pools already. I admit to being one who was sceptical about his appointment and initial impact, but am starting to believe his influence over an extended period could see a significant upturn in Pools' fortunes.

Have to agree with all sentiments a truly fantastic win against an in form side, particularly away from home.
There is still loads to do, in real terms we have only performed for 90 minutes out of the last 180. We are, currently, very similar to every other side in this division; a team of two halves. But to come out of those 180 minutes with 6pts and 7 goals is some statement.

Every pools player was pretty diabolical first half. Oates was immense second half no doubt, but all he did was work harder for longer and show the desire they all lacked first half, battling for the ball, protecting it in possession even winning headers from throws, flicking on for Amond to pick up.
He definitely deserved a couple of minutes with hands on hips and blowing out of his backside. But he has set the standard now and I'll be watching him.
Allessandra is back to his old self too.

There were a few game changing moments throughout the match,
1) Them hitting the bar after a good save from Fryer (questionable offside)
2) The introduction of Richardson
3) Substitution of Reid
4) Oates' strong run from his own half and assist to Amond's goal.

Back to back wins for the first time this season doesn't allow us to sit on our laurels, we have to use them as a springboard to leapfrog over those just above us.
However if we turn up at Notts County thinking we're Billy Big Bollox, get complacent then they'll likely turn us over. Let's just turn up work hard and reap the rewards.
