Looks an even game looking at the table and current, last seven games, form. They're not draw specialists losing five of the last seven and winning the other two. We're not far away, only losing four of the last seven but only taking five points with two draws and a win.

Anything can happen but the best we can do is move up one place if everything goes in our favour. Looking forward to who gets the shirts and see how far from or near to Hignett's model Sam is.

We'll get three, one from each of the front three. We could still be shaky at the back so 3-2 pools.

I have no inkling what to expect from today's game, anticipate that Sam may well make a few changes to starting 11 and also the formation whether that will impact on individual performances is anybody's guess.
Would like to think that players will go the "extra mile" in order to impress the new management team, but I wouldn't put my mortgage on them doing so. Probably seen too many managerial changes over the years to expect this one to be different - can't remember last time a new manager won first game in charge!

Hence I'm going to predict a nervy draw

Another narrow loss for me, like. They'll all be trying to impress the new boss but will try a bit too hard and get caught on the break or a mistake from a set piece. Quality just not quite there.

Well, glad I'm wrong. Two goals, three points and a clean sheet: its all good. Super Sam Collins did a great job who needs Davey Jones?

An excellent performance today, thought Oates and Walker were outstanding as both brought energy and determination to the team.
Overall it was a good performance from the whole team, so well done to the players and Sam Collins for getting them organised. Added bonus was Nathan Thomas' cameo performance coming back from his long injury.

A decent result, no more no less.

I'm particularly pleased for Brad Walker. He seems to be a player who needs to be handled carefully. I think back to my daughter at school. She was bright enough but if she didn't like the teacher she would just switch off. It wasn't that she wanted special treatment it was a simple personality clash. Brad seems the same. At one time he was the next big thing but then struggles to get a place in the team. I really hope Davy Jones & Co can get the best out of him because I think his best could be very good indeed.

As soon as the team sheet became available I thought to myself what a strange selection particularly with no recognised striker in the eleven.

Couldn't decide between a last chance saloon type selection for some players or a go out and prove your worth to the same players, either way was a win win for Sam. If they failed he has an I told you so scenario. If they are successful its a this is what I thought we should have been starting with under Hignett.

Don't think Walker has started one game this season and Oates has been a bit part player, but both were very good. Oates is not a player I like but he played his part well on Saturday. Walker, we all knew somewhere in there is an excellent footballer. It just needs a good coach/manager to bring it to the surface and on a consistent level.

Over the last couple of weeks we've watched Woods try all these fancy one touch moves and balls flicked 'around the corner' but to no avail in fact relinquishing possession on lots of occasions. Walker was doing it and everyone came off, succeeded in reaching it's intended target, only thing is he let the move carry on without him as he strolled up the field. This part of his game is missing, this is where he could contribute more not only to our goal difference but get his tally up, this is probably preventing him becoming a decent championship level player, forward thinking. Not saying he is a lazy player, just lacks that bit of anticipation of where the move could possibly end, however there is that look of 'Boyd' about him and was probably one of his influences.

Man of the match for me was Harrison, massive improvement in his game since Toto went. He did nothing spectacular just his job, quality.

Certain sections of the crowd on Featherstone's case constantly for keeping possession and moving play on, noticed Woods was doing a bit of the same on Saturday, turning in a circle, playing back or square ball but again keeping preventing the opposition from getting the ball. Didn't hear anyone calling for his head.

There is nothing standout in this league, it's not too late to get in amongst them. Back to back wins anyone???

The criticism of Featherstone is absolutely baffling to me. He is neat and tidy with the ball, always makes himself available for the pass and is cool and calm under pressure. I was as bored as everyone else with Hignett's one paced game but when people are booing us keeping possession I can't understand it.
