....through the revolving door that is managing HUFC?

Heard a couple of names through the week, both with boro connections, the third who looks odds on favourite!! If we revert back to type it'll be someone totally out of the blue.

It all looks pre-planned so should be a quick appointment whoever it is.

Dave Jones being heavily touted, presumably mean the lad from the Monkees, would prefer Sam Collins given opportunity to prove his credentials.

Anyhow, whoever is given the role they must recruit some dynamic players for the midfield and attack, currently everything is too slow and predictable

Not sure really, on the player front, I just think Hignett never used his best eleven in their best positions or system.

He brought the kid Martin in as left back of a defensive four then changes the system to five, making him almost immediately redundant. Brought in Amond and isolated him alone up front for so many games. Similarly Deverdics and Allessandra he simply failed to get the best out of players he brought in, some by slowing and some by ceasing the momentum they came to us with.

Kept using Oates when there were much better players from the same bench. Had a decent system with Thomas in, then when he became injured Hignett couldn't tweak it so reverted to something completely different then changed that then changed personnel and kept making needless changes, for reasons only he will know. Making poor substitutions at the wrong times, like for like substitutions, often throwing away at least one and sometimes three points. Basically the architect of his own downfall.

Would like to see someone come in and get the best out of what we have. I truly believe we have enough to get us out of this and into the top half without breaking into a sweat.

Again paraphrasing "it's a simple game complicated by those who should know better"

Another of those who should know better is not what we need right now.

Jones, massive cloud over that appointment if it happened, mind you would probably be the option we often go for.....cheapest! Probably suit the way we are operating as a business and a choice Coxall might opt for given the current financial situation, can't see it though.

One of the ex boro lads has proven experience of turning round the fortunes of a club in a similar situation to where we are now and would be an excellent appointment for pools, again can't see it though.

Whoever it is you've got to get us back to basics, most likely in a 4-4-2, and make us hard to beat. A bit more confidence in the team and confidence at the back and we'd have taken a point on Saturday. Add a bit of firepower and something at the other end and we can be beating teams like Crawley.

A whole 24 hours have gone by since Hignett's contract was terminated, and we still haven't got a new manager! What's going on, is Coxall trying to make the right appointment for the Club? (Disgraceful)

Many have alluded to the appointment of an experienced manager being required, but that was tried with Ronnie Moore and ultimately failed. Some have suggested Danny Wilson, but his recent record at Chesterfeild wasn't brilliant.
We all assume Pools are strapped for cash so surely the answer is to either appoint Sam Collins or bring in a player-manager, remember exploits of Len Ashurst, and perhaps release some of the multitude of backroom staff.

I think in a different place at a different time Hignett could have been successful but I'm afraid we're a bottom third League Two and that means we need to be set up to be strong defensively, beat the teams around us and grind out points away from home. That's what we need for the rest of our season to make sure we stay up.

He constantly tried to run before the side could walk by playing all sorts of formations and really not having a coherent vision that could be applied to fourth division players.

I hope to buggery that most of the squad is out of contract in the summer so we can rebuild, get shot of the six or seven full time senior pros who aren't good enough and use them wages to get two or three quality players. Something which we should have done last summer.

Personally I'm afraid that we'll get rejected by anyone of any calibre and end up with Sam Collins until the summer.

CVs are flooding in apparently - according to the Mail at least.

Whoever it is will be a risk. Either an "experienced" man who has been sacked from other clubs and probably been out of work for a year or two or another inexperienced novice. Hopefully it will be somebody who understands the limitations of fourth division players i.e. keep it simple stupid.

I don't agree with the idea that we need to get rid of, more or less, the entire squad of players. They have proved to be capable of playing really good football (by fourth division standards). Although it was unfortunate that Thomas was seriously injured when we did, at least, have a potent goal threat Hignett's problem seemed to be his fiddling about with formations and personnel. Although a decent set of lads the players we have are not up to anything complicated.

Well that's one off the preferred applicants list - Louis Van Gaal has announced his retirement

I really don't want Dave Jones. Micky Dolenz is my first option followed by Peter Tork. Mike Nesmith can get lost.

Confirmed on official website that Dave Jones will be taking over as new manager on Monday, presumably he'll be in stands on Saturday to get an idea of what he is inheriting, this appointment has been touted for some little while so no great surprise.

Welcome to Hartlepool Mr Jones, hopefully you and your assistant, Kevin Cooper, can steady the ship and bring the success we fans all crave.

OK. Another quick appointment which is better than the weeks of messing around we've known in the past. Jones has vast experience and has a ready made younger assistant in Kevin Cooper who he knows well. Hopefully, between them, they'll have a couple of good signings lined up.

I'm optimistic.

Hmmm not sure on this one. Think it will go one of two ways, well either finish in the last play off place or 3rd maybe even second bottom depending on what those around us do.

It'll end in tears either way tears of joy or sadness. Don't think we will bounce around from loss to draw and back to loss again, with one win a month thrown in, as we did under Hignett. Difficult to judge from this point so we'll have to see how we go.

Going to be interesting on Saturday under Collins, should know all the weaknesses and strengths and how to set them up surely?
