Getting Worried!!

Hignett's team selection and formation are becoming more erratic by the week. Why select Jones who hasn't played more than 10 minutes football in the last 3 months? Playing Woods, Featherstone, Laurent and Deverderic in midfield means no width!

As for his post match tirades, rewind 12 months and you can hear the same utterances from Ronnie Moore. Though of course Ronnie could always bring in another loan signing!

You have to feel for the guy......and criticise him [Hignett] in the same breath really. It appears he just gets the balance right and fate comes along and kicks him in the bollix in the form of consequences of red cards or injuries.
Then he goes and starts players who Ronnie wouldn't even give game time or pulls stunts with the right/left/wing/centre back positions and then farts about with zonal marking.

We mess about with so many different formations and personnel nobody knows what they are supposed to be doing or where they are supposed to be, from game to game.

The players need to shoulder some of the blame also. No need to point fingers or name names.

Bollockings need to be administered during games, players reminded by other players that it's 90 minutes of being out of your comfort zone, either enjoy it or endure it. Confidence in each other and working for each other will make it enjoyable.

Yes it's hard work but it's 90 minutes, one and a half hours, with time in the middle to regroup and rethink. It's canny having a laugh and a kick about with your mates during the week.
What counts is what happens in 90 minutes and whether we choose to act or react, once they cross the line that's up to those who wear the shirt.

He needs to remember that he's a fourth division manager with a squad of fourth division players.

I'm afraid that without Thomas we have very little creative spark about us. But I think we've got a team of pretty honest players and there's no reason why we couldn't be an outfit that's difficult to beat. But he'll never achieve that by changing the side every week, playing players out of position and, the real error, handing contracts to players who are going to spend half of the season injured.

My big concern this season is that there isn't a side who is looking like they're certs for the drop. Last year we had York and Dagenham who were a cut below the rest.

Newport looked in danger but then they've appointed that horrible bugger Westley who knows the lower leagues inside out. Plus if they win their cup replay and get Liverpool away next round then they'll have cash to splash in January.

Latest, according to Hartlepool Mail, is that there are no funds for permanent signings in January window and that the squad will have to be supplemented with loanees. I don't think this is surprising, or new, but I would hope Hignett's recruitment will be focused towards:
- having a plan as to the tactics to be used for remainder of season and recruiting to suit.
- finding some players with dynamism
- getting recruits in at beginning of transfer window and NOT grabbing anything available just as window is about to close (Fewster, Heardman!!!)
- recruiting experienced players and NOT Premier League wannabes who aren't up to the fight / rough and tumble of lower league football.
