I don't know if you read these message boards, but if you do a bit of advice you may be advised to take on board!

Don't criticise the performance of referees, no matter how inept, lacking in evenhandedness, misguided or whatever. The consequences are plain to see , I.e.the referees "mafia" will close ranks and result in further censure for the team.

I'm sure an example of what I mean will be apparent to you.

Is the recent dip in form / results a consequence of Hignett's touchline ban, or just a coincidence

Hopefully he'll have learnt a lesson and will refrain from public comments on the performance of match officials - no matter how misguided / inept!

Bit of a 'protected' species are those who officiate at football matches, with little transparency and virtually no accountability.

Do they get three match bans if their performances are inept?

Looks like another three match touchline ban may be heading his way after less than complimentary comments in post match interview.

Passionate about the game, wears his heart on his sleeve at times and definitely the man for this job. Yes we're in the brown stuff and have been for a number of years, but one of the main reasons for this is we change managers every Friday the 13th.

He's not daft, he knows what the problems are and their solutions. Another knee jerk reaction is not what the club needs. Went off topic a bit but had to nail my colours to the mast.

Another 2 match touchline ban!
His own indiscipline is hampering the team.

Hopefully, his enforced presence in the stands will give Sam Collins the opportunity to motivate the players from the touchline.

I'm almost feeling sorry for him because he's so far out of his depth. The only way I can see him turning this around is if we get a proper fourth division old head to come in as assistant and help him out. A Mick Wadsworth-type who knows how to get the best out of limited players and to be difficult to beat.

I Must say Mick Wadsworth was one of my favourite managers of recent times. He knew exactly how to organize a defence and nick unlikely away wins. Only problem was he couldnt quite work out how to play at home successfully. Hignett loves attacking football so I would imagine him and Mick W would never see eye to eye. Anyway, its not going to happen.

Think he had every right to criticise the performance of the officials from Grimsby game, I would have went so far as to put something in writing and sent it to the FL.
Obvious cause for complaint, there for all to see. i'm sure we can edit the match video down to the four blatant handball incidents and let them have a look at that over tiffin.
