Hartlepool Legend Moves To Wrexham

Some were shocked when he was released, even more were shocked when we thought he was going to sign for Darlo but Eifion Williams has finally been snapped up by a League Two side.

Eifion has joined Wrexham on a 2 year deal after being enticed by the Wrexham manager 'I spoke to Brian Carey several times and to be honest, once I knew he was serious, I was pretty much set on coming here.

Williams told the Wrexham Official site that it would be nice to go home after a long spell away 'It will also be nice moving back to Wales after 10 years away, but that was not my prime consideration - I wanted to join a club that was looking to go up.'

Wrexham beat Darlington and Notts County to get their man and Williams hopes to reproduce his successful times at Pools in Wales 'I'm delighted to have joined Wrexham and after a successful spell with Hartlepool, I'm hoping I will enjoy something similar here,' said Williams.

Williams joined Pools from Torquay in March 2002 for £30,000 after the Gulls boss Roy Mcfarland said 'I don't see him being a goalscorer'

Effo proved him wrong by scoring 56 goals in a blue and white shirt, this puts him 15th on Pools all time top scorers list.

Williams joins fellow ex-poolies Anthony Williams, Michael Proctor and Chris Llewellyn at the Racecourse Ground.
