Captain Paynter Heads Released List
Hartlepool recently confirmed those who would be staying at Victoria Park following League Two relegation, and of course the players who aren't joining us in the National League.
Captain Billy Paynter, part of the caretaker-management team after Dave Jones was sacked, headed the list of nine players released, Kieran Green had already joined Gateshead.
Jordan Richards, Rob Jones, Jake Orrell, Ben Dudzinski, James Martin, Ben Pollock and Connor Smith were also informed they wouldn't be offered new deals at the Vic.
But, new contract offers have been made to Carl Magnay, Rhys Oates and Brad Walker. It probably wouldn't be that likely they'll accept? An added year option on Devante Rodney was taken up.
Chief Executive Pam Duxbury also offered up something of an update on the Pools search for a new boss.
A statement on the Official Site read:
'As promised, I wanted to provide an update on the work that is going on behind the scenes as we look to appoint a new First Team Manager.
'This appointment is so crucial for the future of the Football Club and it is therefore important that we take the appropriate time to ensure we get it right.
'We have received many applications for the role as you would expect and, after speaking to the LMA, we also formally advertised, which has helped draw even more interest.
'We have had a panel of people working on the shortlist and we anticipate carrying out final interviews in the early part of next week with an announcement to follow as soon as possible.
'Once we have the right man in place, we will quickly move forward with our recruitment plans because it is essential to build a squad that fans can be proud of and one that can help us bounce back in to the EFL at the earliest opportunity.
'Work on the pitch and the new Club Crest are among many projects that had been in the pipeline months before the end of the season and we have to keep going because it`s important that we strive to improve off the pitch as well as on it. It is business as usual.'
However, as yet there's been no further development on the search for this new boss or indeed word on those contract offers made being accepted, then again they've not been rejected.
