Doncaster's five game winning run came to an end but the unbeaten run was extended to nine after the leaders' 1-1 draw with Morecambe.
Victory for Accrington over relegation rivals Notts County took them four points clear of the relegation zone. The Magpies remain above the drop zone - by a point - despite this 2-0 loss at the Crown Ground.
Barnet's play-off bid was dented by a 2-0 loss against Mansfield, which took the Stags - after a third win in five - to within two points of the top 7.
Despite losing just once in five a fourth draw for Blackpool in that period came when Pools were held to a 1-1 draw by Colchester. The U's winless run was extended to three at Bloomfield Road with them now four points off the play-offs.
A third successive defeat was suffered by Cambridge as their winless run was extended to four. However, Plymouth reacted positively to a midweek defeat to close the gap on leaders Doncaster to five points - they have a game in hand - after a 1-0 victory at the Abbey Stadium.
Cheltenham's point from a 1-1 draw with Newport at Whaddon Road would have pleased the Robins - despite being the home side - more as it kept them clear of the bottom placed side. The Exiles fourth game without defeat took them to within a win of potentially climbing out of the relegation zone.
The battle of the midtable sides - who went into the game with one eye on a possible play-off push - ended with Stevenage going away from Crawley with the points after a 2-1 victory.
Exeter's amazing run of form saw them collect a seventh straight win - and ninth in a 10 game uneaten run - when they thrashed Crewe 4-0. This latest Alexandra defeat - a seventh in 10 - at St James Park leaves them very much in relegation trouble.
A late equaliser prevented Grimsby from collecting a win at Blundell Park to boost their play-off push. This 1-1 draw saw Luton retain a top 7 place but ground was lost on a possible automatic promotion position.
Hartlepool moved a point closer to Football League survival but Dave Jones' first home game in charge was one that they had to accept a point from. Yeovil claiming a 1-1 draw at Victoria Park saw them follow up the impressive win against Plymouth.
A fifth successive defeat - as a lead was lost - was suffered by Leyton Orient that kept Orient in the relegation zone. This 2-1 win for Carlisle - a first win in four - kept them ahead of the chasing pack in an automatic promotion position.
Wycombe recovered from a defeat - to win for the first time in three - to move ahead of promotion rivals Portsmouth. This 1-0 defeat at Adams Park was a third in four suffered by Pompey who dropped to 7th just two ahead of Mansfield in the final play-off positions.
