Manager Colin Cooper has said he's 'overwhelmed' with the gesture of Hartlepool to carry the Finlay Cooper Fund logo on our away shorts for the coming season.
The gaffer and his wife, Julie, set up the charity in memory of their two year old son Finlay who tragically died from a choking accident back in 2002, and since it's inception, the Fund has raised over £300,000 which has been donated to children's causes in the north east and south London.
Since coming to the club, fans have supported their efforts in fund raising activities like the 2013 Great North Run and the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge last month, and the club have decided to include the dragonfly emblem on our away shorts for the 2014-15 season.
Speaking to the Official Site after being told of the gesture, our gaffer explained.
'It really is a fantastic gesture from the club. When the club mentioned the idea to me and asked permission to use the logo I was overwhelmed to be honest and humbled at the same time. It's an unbelievable touch and it just sharpens what I feel about this club and tells me what people at the club think of me at this moment in time.'
Coops goes on to say that everyone at the charity has warmly received this special acknowledgement from the club and they are honoured to now have the chance to spread the awareness of the fund even further afield.
Chief Executive Russ Green added.
'We're delighted to be able to support the Finlay Cooper Fund in this way. It's a charity very close to all our hearts at Hartlepool and we wanted to do something more to help raise awareness of the wonderful work that it does across the region. The efforts everyone connected with the Finlay Cooper Fund have put in to help raise such extraordinary sums needs more recognition and hopefully this can help raise the profile even further.'
The players will sport the new away kit for the first time when we face Sunderland on Wednesday evening.
