Austin Pens New Deal

Austin Pens New Deal

Hartlepool have today confirmed that defender Neil Austin is the latest to commit himself to the club for the coming campaign.

Austin arrived at the club five years ago from Darlington and he has become a very important member of the squad in that time, going on to make 198 appearances in total.

Having been voted Player of the Year in his first season, in 2011-12 he became the first outfield player to have been an ever present and played in every single minute of the campaign in a decade.

The versatile defender, and sometimes midifielder admitted that ending last season injured was a disappointment for him given he'd made the left back role his own, but he's looking forward to the coming campaign now and hopefully making up for some lost time.

Speaking to the Official Site after signing the deal, the 31 year old said.

'I'm delighted to sign a new contract, it's nice to get pen to paper and I'm already looking forward to coming back. It doesn't seem like two minutes since I signed for the club and I wasn't sure I would be here for five years so I'm buzzing now and I just want to get flying now in time for pre season.'
