'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Pools Among Non Seeded Sides

The first round of the Capital One Cup sees a regional divide these days, I'm not so keen on this as it's not the League Cup when this happens but given the first round is played in the opening week of the season I suppose I can understand the reasoning at that stage.

Clubs being seeded is also not something that I think Cup competitions should be about either.

This is also part and parcel of the modern era of football though isn't it with us finding out on Tuesday that we'll not be one of the seeded sides in the northern area side of the draw that takes place next week.

Hartlepool will play a higher league opponent, that's certain with one of the following our opponents.

1.Barnsley
2.Blackburn Rovers
3.Blackpool
4.Bolton Wanderers
5.Bradford City
6.Derby County
7.Doncaster Rovers
8.Huddersfield Town
9.Leeds United
10.Middlesbrough
11.Nottingham Forest
12.Port Vale
13.Preston North End
14.Rotherham United
15.Sheffield United
16.Sheffield Wednesday
17.Wigan Athletic

Whoever we draw will be difficult but they'll not be overjoyed at the prospect of facing us either, a tie at the Vic could be nice to start the season though.
