It'll Be Make Or Break
Coops had something of a mixed bag this season with Hartlepool as he embarked on fulltime management for the first time.
At times it looked like we would be pushing to get back into League 1 but more often it looked like we'd continue our slide into Conference obscurity but in the end we managed, even though we lost seven of our final nine League 2 games, to finish in 19th and secured safety.
I think that Coops made a good point when talking on the official website.
He's right that we've struggled for a number of years but he also knows it's his job to make sure we see improvement with him left under no illusions that he knows he'll not be at the Vic this time next year if we're still around the lower reaches of League 2.
'I think it's fair to say that this football club has stalled for a number of seasons now and it's my job to try and stop that and find the answers.
'Next season can't be like this season - either for the players or for me.
'I enjoy this job immensely, but if we finish 19th in League Two next season then I won't be here, I'm aware of that.'
This season was about stability, it'll be argued for and against that this wasn't the case but I've also thought that Coops has the makings of a good manager and I felt that the benefits of this season should stand him in good stead, as it would some of the younger players, for the future.
Lessons need to have been learned from this season though.
If they have, by the manager and players, then next season will be much better and it'll be the making of Coops and not the breaking I think.
