Cooper Pleased With Victory

Manager Colin Cooper has admitted that we rode our luck somewhat in the victory over Dagenham and Redbridge yesterday, as he thinks it could've gone either way when you take a look at the chances on offer during the game.

Hartlepool took the victory two nil on the day thanks to goals from Luke Williams and Andy Monkhouse, but speaking to the Official Site following the final whistle, Cooper admitted that the game could've turned out differently had Dagenham taken the chances they had during the 90 minutes.

'The game could've gone either way, Dagenham had some decent chances. Up until the goal we had been creating chances too but we had shots blocked or saved and it could've flipped in either direction but I'm delighted it's gone our way.'

The gaffer went on to praise both goalscorers on the day saying that when it comes to somebody with Williams' ability you know he'll try things and when chances present themselves he'll have a crack, so it's always a case of when, not if, he'd score. And as for Monkhouse, he took a knock in the first half and was very sore, so getting on the score sheet was a nice boost for him because he didn't want to come off.

This is now two clean sheets in a row for Hartlepool and we are again now two unbeaten, and it has to be a run that we sustain moving forward, especially if we want to edge up the table over the coming weeks and the play off spots aren't too far away as long as we get some kind of run going again now.

Getting lucky in games as Cooper admits we were, is just simply part and parcel of a season.

I've always got to rely on thoughts from Coops, which some question at times, and match reports from others but it strikes me that Coops is usually quite honest with his assessments.
