Dolan Definitely Not Coming
It would've been brilliant for us if we could've brought Matty Dolan to the Vic again this season be that on loan or permanently, as some of us dared to hope we could, but this possibility will become an impossible option later this week.
Middlesbrough recalled Dolan from his loan with Hartlepool so they could assess him.
The midfielder, following this assessment, now knows that he doesn't feature in the future plans of Championship Middlesbrough and with his contract expiring at the end of the season hopes were raised that he could come back to the Vic.
These were dashed last week with League 1 Bradford showing an interest.
Bradford tried to sign him permanently but this wasn't a deal that was able to go through before the transfer deadline, some might have regained hope that we could still get him with a loan signing when the loan window opened again on Friday but those hopes have too been dashed.
Reports say that Dolan will complete his Bradford move afterall when he signs for them on loan on Friday with the view to a permanent transfer in the summer.
No matter how much we might have wanted him back, or how much he enjoyed his time at the Vic, Dolan will want to play as high as he can so with Bradford able to offer him League 1 football I don't begrudge him taking that option it's just a shame we couldn't have secured him even if it was only until this season ended.
Dolan is the one we can thank, in part, for Luke Williams coming to the Vic though as he advised his Middlesbrough teammate to make the loan move after Coops showed his interest in the forward.
