Pools Get Rotherham At Home In JPT

Pools Get Rotherham At Home In JPT

Hartlepool knew that seeing off Sheffield United in the last round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy (last week) would see them take a place in the quarter finals.

As it happens that win over the Blades also ultimately cost David Weir his managerial job too, having been appointed in the summer a miserable start to life with the league one strugglers saw him axed last Friday.

That isn't a concern of ours anyway is it, what was a concern was whom we would be drawn against in the northern section quarter finals...

Following the live draw on Soccer AM on Saturday morning that fate was revealed with us paired with Rotherham.

Colin Cooper will be buoyed by the fact that we have home advantage, which you'd hope would be an advantage, and whilst some might see this as an upset should Pools win I'd not be betting against us doing this and moving into the area semi final, and that step closer to the Wembley final showdown between the northern and southern area winner!

Far from an easy draw of course but one that could have been harder I'd say, wouldn't you?
