Notts County Sack Boss After Hartlepool Defeat

Defeat against Hartlepool, League One's bottom side, has cost Notts County manager Keith Curle his job.

Curle's men lost 2-1 at Victoria Park on Saturday and the play-off hopefuls were on a run of just two wins in 11 matches.

County chairman Ray Trew made the decision to sack Curle and his backroom staff - including former Pools assistant boss Colin West - following the result.

''I would like to thank Keith, as well as Colin Lee and Colin West for all of their hard work and effort over the past year, there have been plenty of highs to enjoy in that period but there comes a time when we, as a board, have to consider what we feel is best for the future of the club.'' Trew told the Notts County official site.

Little sympathy I'm afraid, Curle and his players expected to come here and roll Pools over without breaking sweat - more fool them. Hopefully those days are behind us now but time alone will tell. What's the betting that Di Canio will also have departed from Swindon by this tim next week for one reason or another?

Didn't they sack their manager after we whupped them at the Vic last season as well? Ha'way Notts, is losing to us really that much of a bad deal?!

Also, in the words of a certain over-rated Geordie, I would LOVE IT if a Pools win over Swindon next week turns out to be the catalyst for "gob on a stick" di Canio storming out in a strop - ha'way the lads!
