Darrell Clarke Linked With Hartlepool Job

Former Hartlepool United midfielder Darrell Clarke has been linked with the vacant managerial position at Victoria Park.

34-year-old Clarke is currently in charge of Blue Square South outfit Salisbury City but has become the latest name to be linked with the vacant Hartlepool hotseat.

Clarke guided his Sailsbury side to promotion from the Southern League in 2011 and guided his side to a solid 10th place finish last campaign.

His side currently top the Conference South table after losing just twice in their opening twelve matches.

Great player for the club but I don't think he'd be the answer I'm afraid - again, too much of an "insider" and we need a fresh set of ideas from someone who hasn't been involved with the club in recent years. We made that mistake when we brought back Turner and then when we brought back Cooper - let's not do it a third time.

Nowhere near experience to be able to sort out the current mess and galvanise the club I'm afraid. The senior players 'mafia' even managed to oust Cooper from the club - they would eat Darrell Clarke for breakfast.

'Mafia' - That suggests they're fearless and passionate. More like spineless ambitionless layabouts happy to rest on their laurels and pick up daft money for no effort.
