Neale Cooper Resigns As Hartlepool Boss

Hartlepool United manager Neale Cooper has resigned from his position at Victoria Park.

After last night's 2-1 defeat at Bury, Pools were left propping up the League One table. Cooper told the press after the game that he was considering his position and has now took the decision to leave his position at the club.

Cooper tendered his resignation to the club in a meeting at the Vic today, which the club said was 'reluctantly accpeted'.

The club have confirmed that assistant manager Micky Baron will take temporary charge of first team affairs until further notice.

Sorry Neale but it had to happen I'm afraid. Hopefully Ken'll see sense and bring in someone with fresh ideas (sorry Micky, sorry Ritchie) who can clear out some of the deadwood come the transfer window and maybe give us an outside chance of staying up. Think we could do a lot worse than sound Phil Brown out to see if he fancies coming back to the club who gave him his chance as a player...

Shame we could not have had Cooper as manager and Wadsworth as coach. We shall now see just how attractive managing the current Hartlepool squad is. See you at Brentford on Saturday!

Neale Cooper has cemented his status as a Poolie legend by his unselfish action today. What a man. Lets hope that Micky Barron follows suit following the completion of his forthcoming (hopefully brief) stint as 'caretaker' manager - but that is about as likely to occur as a Pools win at Brentford.

At bury last night the inept performance sealed coopers fate the players should look at themselves and be ashamed even in the 5-0 loss at Preston the team played a semblence of football I do believe cooper lost the dressing room a number of weeks ago but it is the measure of the man that he fell on his sword the supporters last need were treated to a performance by the players that disrespected us and the shirt they played in it hurt me as a Hartlepool fan to watch it god help us the rest of the season if the chairman doesn't look outside the club for the future of the club this season
