Kilmarnock Launch Loan Bid For Colin Nish

Kilmarnock have enquired about the possibility of taking Hartlepool United striker Colin Nish on loan.

The Scottish forward joined Pools last summer but has been frozen out since the arrival of Neale Cooper as manager last December, alerting SPL mainstays Killie to his availability.

Nish, 31, is one of the Scottish Premier League's top 10 all time goalscorers, and manager Kenny Shiels is eager to bring the striker back to Rugby Park.

''Signing a striker is a priority for us. I've been trying to get Colin on loan.'' he told the Daily Record.

''He's never worked under a manager who likes to play the ball to him on the ground - everyone else had played it in the air to him and that's not his strength.

''I've tried to get him because he's got good feet, he can hold the ball up and he's a former Killie player.''

Nish spent five years at Kilmarnock in the mid 2000s and counts Dunfermline, Alloa, Clyde and Hibernian amongst his former clubs.

Shields is keen to take the striker back to his homeland, but admits that other clubs are interested in the player and that Nish's wages could prove a stumbling block.

''St Johnstone were also in for him but now they've signed Craig Beattie that might end their interest.

''There's no real budget for us to work with, though, so I might just need to go without bringing any more new players in.''
