Crewe Fear Steve Howard Threat

Crewe Alexandra assistant manager Neil Baker has pinpointed Hartlepool United striker Steve Howard as a threat to his side when the two teams meet tomorrow.

Pools head to Gresty Road in a Capital One Cup tie and Baker was impressed with Neale Cooper's summer signings.

''I have seen Hartlepool in pre-season and they are a good side. Neale has them well organised and they will be difficult to beat.'' he told the Crewe official site.

''They have players such as Andy Monkhouse, Colin Nish and Sam Collins who we know well. Simon Walton has also moved there from Plymouth and he is a player we know very well from his time with us. He did well for Plymouth last season and they have also signed Steve Howard.''

Baker had particular praise for Howard, who looks set to start the game tomorrow, but said his side were looking forward to the campaign.

''That is a very good signing and there won`t be too many better strikers than him in League One.

''He is an experienced forward who is good in the air and I think that is a great signing for them. It will be a test, certainly, but one we look forward too. It is going to be a tough division and we will have to earn everything we get.''
