Poole Double Fires Pools To Bishop Auckland Win
A brace by James Poole fired a Hartlepool United reserve team to a 3-1 win over Bishop Auckland tonight.
A strong Pools side including Jack Baldwin, Paul Murray and Ritchie Humphreys faced the Northern League side, and were joined by former Middlesbrough winger Nathan Porritt at Heritage Park.
After a quiet first half the game sprang into life immediately after the half time interval as Andy Johnson put the hosts ahead before a James Poole strike levelled the scores on 48 minutes.
Poole proved to be the biggest danger for the visitors and he grabbed his second of the night midway through the half when he turned Jordan Richards' cross past a helpless Bishop goalkeeper.
Substitute Ben Wignall grabbed a third goal at the death after converting a Nathan Luscombe corner to seal a good win at the home of the Northern League champions.
