Bury, Gateshead, Shrewsbury Move For James Brown

League One duo Shrewsbury Town and Bury are lining up a move for former Hartlepool United player James Brown, with Gateshead also said to be monitoring his progress.

25-year-old Brown was released from the club he joined as a youngster after an injury plagued eight-year stay at Victoria Park.

Once linked with moves to Newcastle and Celtic, Brown is now attracting interest from Pools' League One rivals Shrewsbury and Bury, where Brown's former team-mate Ritchie Barker is manager.

Conference side Gateshead are also considering a move for the player if Cramlington-born Brown wishes to stay in the north-east.

Comfortable up front or on the right wing, Brown scored 37 goals in 200 appearances at HUFC.
