Gateshead Star Jon Shaw Linked With Hartlepool

Gateshead's star striker Jon Shaw has turned down a new contract with the Tyneside club, prompting speculation linking him with a switch to Hartlepool.

28-year-old Shaw will leave the International Stadium after rejecting a new deal with Gateshead and Pools are thought to be looking at the player.

Shaw bagged 35 goals in 50 appearances for the Heed last season and has also been linked with moves to fellow Conference side Luton and League Two newcomers York.

The striker scored 56 goals in his two seasons on Tyneside, but struggled in his two previous spells in the Football League with Rochdale and Sheffield Wednesday.
