Neil Austin Attracts Interest From Hibernian

Hartlepool United defender Neil Austin has been attracting interest from Scottish Premier League side Hibernian.

The right back has been with Pools since the summer of 2009 but has come in for criticism from Pools supporters after a string of poor performances this season.

But this has not deterred the Scottish side, who lie second bottom of the SPL, with Hibs sending scouts to watch Austin in action in the past few weeks, fuelling speculation they are set to launch a bid for his services.

With new Hartlepool boss Neale Cooper unlikely to be afforded money to sign new players in the January window, allowing a player to leave the club could free up funds for new signings.

Not a fan of this idea as I'd actually go as far as to say Austin has been our best defender this season (not that there's much competition mind - Horwood's been okay, Collins is past it, Liddle looks like he's just playing out his contract until he can leave for nowt in the summer and Hartley's confidence looks shot). In fact, I think we should only do this if we can include a clause in the contract that they agree to take Nish back off us as part of the deal and offer us an apology for offloading him on us in the first place!

i wouldnt sell him, i dont think all the criticism is fair, i think hes been a consistent performer and he always gives 100% which is all i ask for. and lets be honest, have we got any better at the club??
