Hartlepool Reserves Hit 10 Man Hull For Six

Hartlepool United Reserves won their first game of the season in emphatic fashion after smashing six past a helpless Hull side.

A strong line-up contained James Poole, James Brown, Colin Larkin, Nathan Luscombe and Evan Horwood, making his first appearance since his recent thigh injury.

It was the best possible start for Pools as James Poole popped up to head the home side ahead on just five minutes. The lead was doubled midway through the half when a goalkeeping error allowed James Brown to pounce and hit home.

Defender Paul Johnson headed past goalkeeper Joe Cracknell to make the score 3-0. The visitors soon pulled one back, only to have goalkeeper Cracknell dismissed for handling outside the area, forcing defender Danny East between the sticks.

Evan Horwood created the fourth as he sent Colin Larkin through to net Pools' fourth before getting on the scoresheet himself with a stunning 40 yard strike.

Substitute Steven Snaith rounded off the win with less than ten minutes remaining, converting a Horwood free kick.

After three consecutive defeats the win was a welcome turnaround in the fortunes for Pools' second string, against a team who themselves had won 8-0 in their previous outings, although a contentious red card will be the talking point on the Hull coach home.

FT: Hartlepool Reserves 6 Hull Reserves 1
