Hartlepool United and Luton Town have agreed a fee for the transfer of striker Adam Boyd.
Luton's first offer was rejected by Pools but this afternoon Mike Newell has returned with an improved package which has been approved by Pools owners IOR.
Boyd will now travel to Luton to discuss personal terms with the deal looking set to go through before the end of the week.
As I wrote in a previous story I believe the time is right for this deal. Adam gets to play Championship football, Hartlepool United cash in on a player who is without doubt a major talent, but spent the majority of last season in the treatment room and has only one year of his contract remaining.
In addition the pre-season form of James Brown is very encouraging and he looks set to step straight into Boyd's boots should the deal be concluded.
No fee's have been confirmed but it is believed that a figure of £750,000 with an additional sell on percentage also included within the offer was enough to see Ken Hodcroft sanction the deal.
