Hartlepool Reserves Edge Past Gateshead

Gateshead Reserves v Hartlepool Reserves
Report from Gateshead International Stadium

An early Denis Behan goal was the difference as Hartlepool Reserves edged past their Gateshead counterparts tonight.

Pools' side contained Armann Bjornsson, Ritchie Humphreys and Fabian Yantorno and they took the lead after just 6 minutes when Denis Behan's effort found the back of the net.

It was the visitors who were on top for much of the first half in an end to end game, although clear cut chances were in short supply.

Winger Josh Gillies proved to be the Heed's biggest threat down the right hand side but his good play was unable to create any real chances to test Andy Rafferty.

Young striker Callum Hassan started the game for Pools but was unable to replicate his goalscoring exploits in the youth team as he headed a good chance over at the start of the second half.

Gateshead almost grabbed an equaliser as Kieran Edwards' long range effort cannoned back of the woodwork and the home side piled the pressure on Pools.

There was one chance for Pools as Denis Behan headed an effort harmlessly wide as they held on for a win.
