Turner Delighted To Acquire Left Back Horwood

Chris Turner spoke of his delight after he finally acquired a recognised left back in the form of Hartlepool-born, and long time trialist Evan Horwood.

Horwood was released from Carlisle at the end of last season and has been on trial with Pools since day one of pre-season, but with seemingly a lack of transfer funds a move for the left back has stalled. But since Chris Turner revealed his frustration in not being able to snap up players this summer, it's seem to of sunk in with the owners who have finally given Turner the licence to sign his man.

And Turner is delighted; ''We're delighted that he's agreed to sign for the Club and I feel he deserved this chance to prove himself with his hometown team''

Horwood is no stranger to the coaching staff, and the Director of Sport believes he can be an asset. ''Mick and I know Evan well from having worked with him in the past. He has shown a great appetite for the game during his trial spell with us and has added some real attacking presence down the left-hand side.''

''His deliveries from set-pieces have been excellent and we really could have scored more goals during pre season on the back of that.''
