Hartlepool Reserves Cruise To Final Win

Hartlepool United Reserves ended their season with a comfortable 4-2 victory over Bradford City at Victoria Park.

Pools took the lead early on when top scorer Billy Greulich added to his tally, heading home a Jon Andre Fredriksen cross.

Goalkeeper Andy Rafferty played his third game for the reserves but was beaten by Ben Wilkinson who levelled up the scores but Michael Mackay put Pools back into the lead almost immediately with a good finish at the other end.

It was 3-1 soon after when Jon Andre Fredriksen received the ball from Mackay before confidently slotting home under pressure.

It was more of the same after Pools with Colin Larkin testing the keeper before being fouled in the box to win a penalty. Jonny Rowell stepped up and confidently put the ball past Matthew Convey.

Bradford grabbed a late consolation as Luke Sharry sent a good strike past Rafferty but Pools held on for a win that leaves them top of the reserve league table.

However, Colin West's side face a nervous wait until next Tuesday when rivals Middlesbrough play Bradford, a win for the Boro will see them take the title this season.
