Danny Wilson Departure Update!

The Hartlepool side met at the club today for an update on the managerial position.

The Pools players were taken aback by yesterday afternoon's news that manager Danny Wilson had left the club after two-and-a-half years in charge, with both the reason and manner of his exit still shrouded in mystery.

A meeting was held this morning where the players were told what was happening with the reorganisation of the first-team and were able to ask questions.

None of the players had suspected such a dramatic move was in the offing yesterday with Wilson taking charge of training as normal in the morning.

The squad took part in a cross country run, due to the Maiden Castle pitches being frozen, and Wilson joined in until he was summoned by phone to the Vic for a meeting.

It was there that the final decision was taken that club and manager should part ways.

It is understandable. Many local celebrities have been quick to comment on the matter. The Hartlepool Mail have been quick to combat local heroes for their thoughts- running a number of articles. Wilson's recent record is sackable. The club were not performing and in a centenary season, the club felt stale and boring.

Director of Sport Chris Turner has been placed in temporary charge of the first team ahead of Friday night's match at home to Southend United.

Peter Beardsley is supposedly interested in the job. Then there is the obvious Chris Turner but it is questionable whether Turner will want to take on the strains of management again after some bad times at Stockport and Sheffield Wednesday.
