Wilson Says Hartlepool Win Was 'Brilliant'
Hartlepool United manager Danny Wilson was more than pleased with his sides performance in the Carling Cup first round.
Pools beat Scunthorpe 3-0 to advance to the next round and Wilson said it was more than he wanted ''We'd have been happy simply to get through the tie but to put on a display like that was a real bonus.''
''You saw tonight a great work ethic from all the players which is what we need if we want to do anything this season - it's given us a great start and it's what we expected and wanted.''
He told the official site that the opposition provided a tough test ''I thought Scunthorpe looked strong, particularly in the first half, but the back lads for us stood up to it well.''
''It was pretty even at the break but you have to say that it was some performance from the lads in the second half - they were brilliant.''
